Year 7 Family Learning Morning

On Wednesday 29^th November, Harris Morden played host to 25 families of our Year 7 students, who had been invited in to participate in the Family Learning Morning.

Families are part of our community at Harris Academy Morden, and this event was designed to give them an insight into what it is like to attend Harris Morden as a Year 7 student.

First of all, the family members were welcomed to the school with a presentation from Ms Brazier about the Year 7 curriculum, homework expectations and our excellent pastoral care system. This was then followed by the arrival of the Year 7 students, who teamed up with their family members to attend one of two lessons together: Drama or English.

In the lessons, students and families worked together over a double lesson to create either a pantomime-inspired performance in Drama, or a poem using extended metaphors in English. Everybody worked hard and enjoyed the challenge!

Sofia in Year 7 said about the event, "Something I really enjoyed about Family Learning Morning was that we got to do projects with our family members. The projects were really interesting, plus we got to learn a little bit while having fun."
