January 2022 - Year 7 Trip - 'The National Maritime Museum'
The National Maritime Museum was a wonderful destination for our field trip, as it provided us with a wealth of knowledge about the history of maritime and navigation. The museum was well-organized and presented a comprehensive look at the subject matter, with interactive exhibits that kept us engaged and entertained throughout the visit.
During the trip, our students participated in various activities that allowed us to deepen our understanding of geography. They were able to observe antique maps, navigational instruments, and ship models, which provided them with a unique insight into the challenges and innovations of seafaring. The knowledgeable and passionate museum staff made the learning process even more enjoyable, as they shared their expertise and answered our students' questions with enthusiasm.
Overall, it was a truly unforgettable day and all of our students had a great time!
December 2022 - Year 10 History Trip - 'Museum of London'
All three-year 10 history classes have recently visited the Museum of London, Docklands for an exhibition on Public Execution. This links to the GCSE topic students have been studying on Crime and Punishment. The students travelled up to Canary Wharf and we walked up to the museum. Students spent 45 minutes on a self-guided tour of the exhibition, which included artefacts dating from 1600 including a prison door and the gloves of King Charles I. Students also have the opportunity to watch some interactive videos on public execution sites in London and the Tyburn tree. We then had lunch at the museum before returning back to Morden. The students were great representatives of the school and showed great enthusiasm and manners.
November 2022 - Year 10 Drama - 'Wicked'
On Wednesday 16th November our Year 10 GCSE Drama Students and Year 9 Harris Experience Students got to travel to London to see the West End Musical WICKED! The untold story of the Wicked Witch from The Wizard of Oz.
The students travelled to Victora were they stopped by The Westminster Catholic Church before entering the Apollo Victoria Theatre. The students loved the show and thought the Storyline, Actors, Set and Music was very impressive.
All students were very well behaved and represented Harris Academy Morden extremely well.
Thank you to Mr Donnell, Ms Bagnald and Ms Bielecki who led on the trip.
