Faculties

The Harris Academy Morden staff and students are split into one of four faculties. Students wear a tie with the colour stripes of their faculty to indicate this: Blue, Red, Yellow and Green. The students and staff from each faculty attend a weekly Faculty Assembly each led by their Faculty Coordinator and Assistant Principal.

Students are arranged into Tutor Groups according to their Year Group. Each Faculty has a mixture of tutor groups from Years 7-11. This enables tutors to provide age-approriate support and means that our RSE/PSHE/SMSC/Safeguarding programmes are planned for five-year progression.  Tutors meet with their Tutees every morning from 8.30-9.00am. In this time, Tutor Groups follow a full Pastoral Programme including an Citizenship, PSHE, RSE, Literacy, Numeracy and Chess.

There is a healthy competition between the Faculties in the weekly leagues published for: attendance, punctuality and behaviour. Moreover, each half-term there is an Inter-Faculty Challenge where points are awarded for the Faculty’s position. The Inter-Faculty Cup is decided at the end of the academic year following the Academy’s Sports Day in the Summer Term.
