On Monday 10th March 2025 27 prefects had the invaluable opportunity to visit the Houses of Parliament as part of an educational tour. This experience provided them with a deeper understanding of the workings of the UK government, parliamentary procedures, and the significance of democratic engagement.

During the visit, they explored the historic chambers, including the House of Lords, the House of Commons, the King's robing chamber, the various lobbies, and the Education Centre. They gained insight into the legislative process and had the privilege of engaging in discussions with our local MP, Dame Siobhain McDonagh, who made a special effort to meet with them. She addressed their challenging questions on key issues such as housing, crime, support for students in schools, and her journey as an MP.

The tour was both enlightening and inspiring, reinforcing the students’ understanding of Parliament’s role in shaping society.

The students thoroughly enjoyed the trip and found it both engaging and thought-provoking!
